Trace Heating is an electronic system utilised to maintain or indeed raise the temperature of pipes and vessels. Following the application of trace heating thermal insulation must then be installed to retain heat losses from the pipe, thus enabling the heat generated by the element to maintain the temperature of the pipe.
Trace heating is normally used to prevent pipes from freezing or to maintain process temperatures required for the substances being transported through the pipe work i.e. substances that may solidify at ambient temperatures.
